Empty Cauldron

Empty Cauldron

It lasted but a moment,
A minute sliver of time,
Pieces of me now taken,
Locked down deep inside.

I really thought I loved you,
I really thought you’d see,
That naive girl that once you knew,
Still lived inside of me.

You called and I did answer,
You asked and I did come,
Your arms I did seek comfort,
But found that there was none.

I wish that I’d known better,
I wish that I did see,
That trust and love were absent,
When you were here with me.
